  2. For this leaf, there really wasn't anything special going on. Most of the lighting removal I did was targeted at different layers of light and done step by step. For this image this is how I tackled everything:

-Flooded a layer green and set to overlay, painted in bit by bit to remove highlights across the texture
-Repeated the above process till highlights were gone. Sometimes this meant multiple layers on top of each other overlaying green
-Used a hue saturation shift to brighten and saturate dark areas
-reversed above process to darken and saturate light areas
-Left/Right side color and levels balance to bring the two sides of the leaf closer to each other

    Hope that helps!

    1. What do you mean by "flooded a layer" and "closer to each other?" Did you fill the layer and remove fill green where u didn't want it? Been trying to master the technique but having trouble.

    2. So by flooded a layer, I meant I would take a solid green layer in photoshop (I flooded it green to fill it quickly) then used that as an overlay and blended that in to saturate areas that the lighting desaturated.

As for close to each, the lighting in the original image was from an angle so as I correcting each side of the leaf folds was different for the left and right side of the leaf. I was just making it match. Hope that helps!
